Hot! Dry! Muggie!<br />
<br />
And filled with children "noise". To say I am happy that school starts on Tuesday would be an understatement. Yesterday when I left my daughters house for my last full day of babysitting I did a little two step and one vey big fist pump. I checked... no one was looking. I found this picture on the internet... it was so me yesterday!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Now I am back to being an Oma... Regular after school, making cookies, laughing and hugging and enjoying precious moments with the kids. No more nagging and reprimanding. Just normal Grandparenting. The stuff that I love! "Been there, Seen it, Done it", has become too common a phrase for me this summer. I won't miss the little spats, the tears the crying, the phrase "I'm bored", the phrase "one sec!"! Brush your teeth, comb your hair, take a shower, pick up your toys, clean up your room, put your dirty laundry in the hamper, put your dishes on the counter, get off your iPad, get dressed, eat! Get outside!... no longer a daily part of my vocabulary.<br />
<br />
Some evenings this summer I was so tired I could hardly climb the stairs to bed. And once I got to bed, the alarm went off way to early. I totally get why we have kids young. There comes a point where no matter how much love you have in your heart, there isn't enough energy left in the body to be two people... loving grandparent and full time caregiver.<br />
<br />
Sewing has become a bit of a distant memory although I did get a quilt made for my grandsons 8th birthday on August 29. By made I mean the top is done. Its on the frame...and next week my goal will be to get it quilted. I hope. First I need to rest! sleep! Enjoy the quiet! And get myself back to normal...whatever that is!<br />

I can't remember the joke but the punch line was... "Green Side Up".<br />
<br />
Yesterday I started a Snails Trail baby quilt and I am using the <span style="color: red;">"Square in a Square"</span> ruler and method to make the blocks. I love this system for making any block that has a square in a square. Every block is square and the same size and although the squaring part is tedious, not having to be sewing bias constantly is a blessing. (If you are not familiar with the "Square in a Square method" check this web page <a href="http://squareinasquare.com/">http://squareinasquare.com</a> )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vCfWDmRziKQ/V4pWb9Px0MI/AAAAAAAACEE/AXMq84RnqPUnyiwfPkYEzK2qMe7-dnkowCK4B/s1600/IMG_2962.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vCfWDmRziKQ/V4pWb9Px0MI/AAAAAAAACEE/AXMq84RnqPUnyiwfPkYEzK2qMe7-dnkowCK4B/s320/IMG_2962.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I find that the regular method of sewing triangles to opposite sides of the square and then trying to get it to square up properly or have an accurate 1/4" seam allowance so you don't lose all your points after squaring is painful!<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2W6ZqAr1DzU/V4pWnskdvxI/AAAAAAAACEU/Nz6l8xcxPsgh54gygP03DsoJvnGxy6VrgCK4B/s1600/IMG_2964.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="161" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2W6ZqAr1DzU/V4pWnskdvxI/AAAAAAAACEU/Nz6l8xcxPsgh54gygP03DsoJvnGxy6VrgCK4B/s200/IMG_2964.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Right side - Wrong side</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
My friend Aimee has a mantra when she sews... <span style="color: red;">"Right side together"</span>. I laugh silently when I sew with her as she reminds herself that she needs to match the right sides.<br />
<br />
White is so hard to tell the difference from right and wrong sides and the fabric I am using is almost impossible. So I am continuously saying <span style="color: red;">"right side up"</span> every time I place a white strip down (sorry Aimee that I laughed at you). I have several pieces in the blocks I have made so far that I see the white is upside down but I am not taking them apart. If I couldn't see it before, no one else will ever notice. Right?<br />
<br />
And there was one time when I remembered "right side up" but forgot to put the block right side down on it! grrrrrrr!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6ahmZyBtjP4/V4pW5uqDBAI/AAAAAAAACEc/t0B-CkpAhIYuE1hFR816hw1Rb5VOROOBQCK4B/s1600/IMG_2963.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6ahmZyBtjP4/V4pW5uqDBAI/AAAAAAAACEc/t0B-CkpAhIYuE1hFR816hw1Rb5VOROOBQCK4B/s200/IMG_2963.jpg" width="110" /></a><br />
I am also having to remind myself that the blue goes on the bottom. The centre blocks are little 4 patches of white and blue. I am chain piecing the white portions to the 4 patches and with 36 blocks at a time, I am repeating <span style="color: red;">"blue at the bottom"</span> 36 times x 3 rounds.<br />
<br />
And last but not least... That pesky 1/4 inch.<br />
<br />
The one thing about the "square in a square" method is that you have to sew an accurate 1/4". I don't always do that! I tell people as long as you sew the same 1/4" throughout a project it doesn't matter if you sew a little scant. Just always sew the same. MY same is to put my regular sewing foot on and move my needle two places right of the most left position. I always sew like that... ALWAYS!<br />
<br />
Except after putting the completed block above together, I realized my 1/4" was too scant. So I put on the proper 1/4" foot, set my guide and changed to the single hole plate and perfect... exact 1/4"!! Yeah!!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0gEngYdbLEY/V4u5sfhz_NI/AAAAAAAACE8/gHF0MGw0JNUTFedhy6_4v_-dgzLo2TIjQCK4B/s1600/IMG_2968.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0gEngYdbLEY/V4u5sfhz_NI/AAAAAAAACE8/gHF0MGw0JNUTFedhy6_4v_-dgzLo2TIjQCK4B/s200/IMG_2968.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">My exact 1/4" setup on my Bernini 790</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Except for the fact that I had completed 3 blocks using my standard everyday, always use it 1/4" and after all six of the blocks I needed were done... the results were not pretty!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-15N3PB_Zbxo/V4u4gfatc7I/AAAAAAAACEw/Ftib5PHL0OAtP0giHUk6etMG_Tf6myOAwCK4B/s1600/IMG_2967.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="175" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-15N3PB_Zbxo/V4u4gfatc7I/AAAAAAAACEw/Ftib5PHL0OAtP0giHUk6etMG_Tf6myOAwCK4B/s200/IMG_2967.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">block on the left is my 1/4", block on the right is the exact 1/4"<br />at least 1/2" difference in the overall size of the block.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So I am back to making more blocks! I will have to make 6 using an accurate 1/4" and 6 using the not so accurate 1/4". But the good news is I will have a second quilt ready for the next little boy that comes along!</div>
<br />

<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: red;">My eldest son, turned 40 yesterday.</span><br />
<br />
I remember turning 40 and feeling like I had turned a page in my life. The kids were almost adults and soon my house would be quiet and I could spend my days doing whatever I wanted. I was excited for the vision I had in my mind of what being a "real" adult meant. There was no big celebration. In fact, my DH had gotten things a little messed up and gave me a great 40th birthday party the year before! So turning 40 was almost an average day. I never shed a tear!<br />
<br />
BUT... my oldest... turning 40! I have done nothing but cry all week!<br />
<br />
I have spent almost a week digging through old pictures, looking at pictures, sorting pictures and taking pictures of old pictures, of Kris growing up, his brother being born... then his sister...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AnUhnvta9u0/V4jEL_Q5HgI/AAAAAAAACDA/Ny5JgMBgJp0ORsva5zQsMQBbz_HkY-vsACLcB/s1600/IMG_2784.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AnUhnvta9u0/V4jEL_Q5HgI/AAAAAAAACDA/Ny5JgMBgJp0ORsva5zQsMQBbz_HkY-vsACLcB/s200/IMG_2784.jpg" width="156" /></a><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GLRhfFawmKc/V4jEMD4CcWI/AAAAAAAACDE/0CrZA0bsUg4iAtmmlJKdSfUEMsBPX038wCLcB/s1600/baby%2Bscot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GLRhfFawmKc/V4jEMD4CcWI/AAAAAAAACDE/0CrZA0bsUg4iAtmmlJKdSfUEMsBPX038wCLcB/s200/baby%2Bscot.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NeWWbs0ja7c/V4jEMfbk2dI/AAAAAAAACDI/LnFeGgMscisc7OoyQOk2tXHbdIS-uNgfQCLcB/s1600/IMG_2836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NeWWbs0ja7c/V4jEMfbk2dI/AAAAAAAACDI/LnFeGgMscisc7OoyQOk2tXHbdIS-uNgfQCLcB/s200/IMG_2836.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
<br />
Sometimes, I couldn't see for the tears that remembered the moments!<br />
<br />
Then there was grade 8 graduation and then high school graduation and everything in between. The memories were overwhelming.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then his brother got married, then his sister...<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then a few short years ago, he found the woman of his dreams and...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, a "son is a son, until he finds him a wife" but for some reason, although I love his wife dearly, this week, I wanted him back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to be watching him as he took his first steps. I wanted his first time on a swing, his first day of school, his first time on skates, his first time he got lost in the store, his first time on a rollercoaster, his first hockey game, his first goal, his first time at the drive-in, his first time eating banana popsicles, his first girlfriend, his first day at University, his first job, his first everything! I wanted him to be my little boy again. I wanted to do it all over again. So...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went and found all those firsts in the huge box of pictures I had stowed away in a closet. I scanned and edited and dated and sorted and cried. I made a slide show, and watched it a dozen times. And I cried every time. I set it to the song, "The way you are" And I cried. I kept saying to everyone, "I am making a slide show for Kris of all his pictures growing up". And I cried.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But after it was all done, and I had sent it too him, I came to an astounding realization. I had really made it for me! He was turning 40 and I had forgotten who he was and where he had been. I needed to take the time to walk back through his life, to enjoy the moments that I had forgotten so I could enjoy the accomplishments of his life. And I cried, and laughed and smiled and... remembered, the joy, the sorrow and most importantly the unconditional love we have for each other. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So yesterday is gone, and today I have given him back to his wife. He belongs there in the present. In 23 years since I turned 40, I have done many things and I think I have learned more than I did in the first 40 years of my life. Turning 40 was a great moment and I am sure that it will be a great moment in his life too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h3>
Happy 40th Birthday Kris! Enjoy!</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: red;">On another note...</span> last night I went off to my Thursday night sewing group. Didn't feel like it but I forced myself out the door and I had a great time. I have some great friends! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And I made a bowl. I hated the idea up until I started working on it, but it was fun! I don't know what I am going to do with it, but whatever it is, I will love it forever, because it will be my memory of how I spent Kris's 40th birthday! LOL And I have pictures...</div>

Here are most of the projects I have finished since camp. Almost all were in different stages of being complete before camp. All most all are waiting to be quilted. So my UFO pile got smaller. Finished!</h4>
Remember the other day when I said I was going to finish that quilt... well it got finished. I just haven't had a chance to post the picture. I just love this quilt. Can't wait to get it quilted.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Lakeview. Such a pretty quilt</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Since my last post I have been watching my Grandchildren. Monday night and all day Tuesday I had 5. they spent the whole day in the pool so it wasn't too bad. But thats my Tuesday's for the next 8 weeks. Wednesday, I just had 3. We went to the beach. The kids were so excited to go. We went to this same beach all last summer and they barely contained themselves as we drove the 25 minutes to Beaver lake. We had a great day. I packed a picnic lunch and they swam until it was time to come home. I was exhausted!!! Came home and right to bed. <div>
<br /></div>

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJUjLCTU5zw/V37pDYJVH_I/AAAAAAAAB_k/puxAbhr878oO8j6xqXtT2E3dSfny5LCYQCK4B/s1600/IMG_2738.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJUjLCTU5zw/V37pDYJVH_I/AAAAAAAAB_k/puxAbhr878oO8j6xqXtT2E3dSfny5LCYQCK4B/s320/IMG_2738.jpg" width="256" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Beaver Lake with the grandkids</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /><br />
<br />
I have to tell you about these two great notions I own.I have been using them a lot lately while doing all this appliqué.<br />
<br />
First there is my self threading needle or as Leah Day calls them... cheater needles. Who could live without them when doing machine appliqué of any nature, or machine quilting. So easy to tie off those threads when you can thread the top one in a needle quickly and pull it to the back of your work. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8NK3oMVCsr4/V3q_NaCxCtI/AAAAAAAAB-0/T2cdY0H1bZM4yMZzgaAJlP9ME9Qc-9CzQCK4B/s1600/SelfThreadingNeedles_Prod.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8NK3oMVCsr4/V3q_NaCxCtI/AAAAAAAAB-0/T2cdY0H1bZM4yMZzgaAJlP9ME9Qc-9CzQCK4B/s320/SelfThreadingNeedles_Prod.jpg" width="248" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Self threading needles</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div>
I love these needles but I was going through a lot of them. Not because they got dull or bent, but because I would put them in with my other needles or in my pin cushion and they would be impossible to find. Then one day last week I was watching Leah Day on The Quilt show and she was using these needles and keeping them on this cute little gadget...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ti8MscZU1vE/V3q_zb5xZfI/AAAAAAAAB-8/HKklH-tCAj0ShEPM3wpDeCiIwq1y1yuywCK4B/s1600/AC122170.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ti8MscZU1vE/V3q_zb5xZfI/AAAAAAAAB-8/HKklH-tCAj0ShEPM3wpDeCiIwq1y1yuywCK4B/s400/AC122170.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">the Pin Place/ Scissoor Spot.</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I immediately reacted because, of course, I had one of those. But I had shoved it in a drawer somewhere because it didn't really suction cup nicely to anything. But... it is the perfect place to store my self-threading needle. (In fact, Leah Day even mentioned that the suction part didn't work well for her either.)<br />
<br />
<br />
Tomorrow I am going to try and finish my butterflies and basket quilt, make an apron and start a baby quilt for my daughter-in-laws new nephew. They were keeping his identity a secret from us all and although he was born on Saturday last week, he had a few minor issues and they haven't introduced him yet. Hopefully I will get the quilt ready for him this coming week! No babysitting until Tuesday next week so I hope to get lots done.<br />

<b>Schools out for summer!...</b></h4>
<br />
I almost always spend 3 days a week babysitting my grandchildren in the summer. I don't mind but it curtails my sewing time and with that, not much time for blogging either.<br />
<br />
My mood continues. Sadly it is affecting the way I am dealing with everything right now. I have felt very alone for the last year or so and up until April I rarely have spent much time in my sewing room. Of course I got sick in the middle of that year and it took me a long time to feel like sewing. So camp was a great energizer for me.<br />
<br />
I came back from camp full of energy, and a little sad. MY daughter and her husband had parted ways just before I went to camp and I was very devastated by the whole thing. I had hoped that they would make a go of it even though some things had happened that were almost impossible to forget. My SIL was very kind to me, and a wonderful father. We had always had a good relationship. I hope we always will even though he and my daughter are certainly not friendly. <br />
<br />
When I am feeling my worst I always find that sewing picks up my spirits. I have always felt like that. And now is no different. Sometimes I force myself to come down to the sewing room and work on anything, and its not usually long before the hands of the clock have sped along and I am deep into whatever project I put my hand on. I bet I am not alone. There is something cathartic in putting your mind to a creative task.<br />
<br />
Right now though, I am not really into what I am doing. I love the end result but the work is tedious. But I am determined to finish this today.<br />
<br />
I am doing machine appliqué. Three panels are finished and I just have this one panel left to do! <br />
<br />

I started this quilt a long time ago. I used the scrappy strips as "leaders and enders" for a lot of years. I was so close to having all the blocks sewn together when I came back from camp that I just decided to bite the bullet and finish it. But I got stalled by the appliqué. Its taken me this long to get back to it, but I am determined not to go to bed tonight until this quilt is totally pieced. Borders and all!!!</div>

Now I am working on a new "leaders and enders" It will be an Irish Chain from Quiltville! I have been finishing so many piecing projects that I suspect it will be done very soon. Such a great idea to work on two quilts at once... Something old and something new! My quilting life is pretty darned exciting right now!</div>

So Ufo's are not new to me!</h2>
<br />
In 2010 I wrote:" <span style="color: red;">You know its a hard decision to decide what to work on when you have so many WIP's (works in progress). I would like to stop "starting" new projects but I think it comes with the creative gee so medically, I am unable to stop "starting"! What a relief. I wonder if there is a pill?"</span><br />
<br />
So in 6 years, nothing has really changed with me. Except for the fact that right now I am on a mission to finish some of the projects that I have in shoe boxes, gift boxes and sewing boxes everywhere I look.<br />
<br />
And even though I don't think I am starting new projects right now, in reality, one of the completed blocks I started a year ago, isn't really a UFO. Its become a new project that has captured my attention...<br />

I have been procrastinating the last few days. I have three baskets to applique and about 6 butterfly blocks to appliqué and add antennae. Most of the quilt is together but like all new projects I have sort of lost interest so today I did some bindings...<br />

(Camp part 2)<b>Camp continues..</b><br />
<br />
This year, camp felt like we were missing someone. My dear friend Sue had gotten double pneumonia in February and several times in 6 weeks her family thought they were going to lose her. Her recovery was and is very long and very hard. I decided we should all make a quilt for her so everyone made a little 6" block and we put them together and I gave it to her on the Tuesday after the retreat was over. Rest assured... she cried!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ndc6Av0SDJ8/V3JygO13xhI/AAAAAAAAB78/jb7SbXQe-JwDPqFYcZ5f7Pk-48qXISLcgCK4B/s1600/IMG_2502.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ndc6Av0SDJ8/V3JygO13xhI/AAAAAAAAB78/jb7SbXQe-JwDPqFYcZ5f7Pk-48qXISLcgCK4B/s320/IMG_2502.jpg" title="Sue's Quilt" width="176" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Sue's quilt!</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
So remember those nickels I took... well in need of starting something new, I dug out some nickles and made this little lap quilt. It was fun and easy and It felt good to start and finish something all in one day.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uoR1kfxwXNQ/V3J1st1C59I/AAAAAAAAB8I/luke_CFzwBUMlT0dYamxsr_Rra-vkWtagCK4B/s1600/IMG_2487.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uoR1kfxwXNQ/V3J1st1C59I/AAAAAAAAB8I/luke_CFzwBUMlT0dYamxsr_Rra-vkWtagCK4B/s320/IMG_2487.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Nickel fun!</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Once I got home, I pulled out the top and quilted and bound it right away so it wouldn't become an #ufofinallyfinishednotquiltednotbound .<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0X2Qau193Tc/V3J2mX_w-oI/AAAAAAAAB8U/DNtffMcDohUB44HXxZ0hZNejyli6ugdkACK4B/s1600/IMG_2532.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0X2Qau193Tc/V3J2mX_w-oI/AAAAAAAAB8U/DNtffMcDohUB44HXxZ0hZNejyli6ugdkACK4B/s320/IMG_2532.jpg" width="241" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">Nickel fun finished!!!</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
My last finish was this split nine patch which I made from a package of nickels. I started it in October 2012 at another camp. I got all the blocks done, but that's the problem with camps. You sew like crazy and sometimes if you don't get back to it after you come home from camp those projects become UFO's or even worse... <span style="background-color: #fefdfa; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">FI,IADWTP's!!! <span style="background-color: #fefdfa;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: #fefdfa;">And then it was time to come home and pack up. </span></div>

<span style="background-color: #fefdfa;">This weeks goals are to get this pile of quilts bound. I am going to try my new to me Bernini 4mm flat felling foot #71 to bind these quilts. I tried it yesterday on this little gem and I have to say it was almost 100% perfect. ( By the way, you can add this little fellow to my 2016 #UFOfinallyfinished list)<br />

On your mark, (Camp, part 1)It all started the 21st of April... (I know that was a while ago).<br />
<br />
Every year on or about that date I pack up all my stuff and head to Peterborough Ontario and go to Quilt camp. Of course there is more to it than just packing... I organize the camp so every year I have lots to do getting everyone organized to go to camp. Then I have to take time and plan what I will take. (Which always ends up being way more than I can possibly do!)<br />
<br />
This year I planned to take UFO's (unfinished objects)... because I have a lot of them. Some I should just stop calling UFO's and start calling them FIIADWTP's!!! (forget it, I am done with this project).<br />
<br />
So I packed up my bag(s) with several very old projects, some Nickle's (5" squares) in case I felt like completing one of several nickel projects I had started and promised myself, no trips to Fabricland while I was at camp... hence no new projects!<br />
<br />
Being confined to a large room with 40 other quilters is plenty of motivation to work on a project, but only bringing UFO's started out feeling like a bit of a mistake. Everyone around me was working on something new. But I dragged out my first project and everyone around me jumped at the chance to remind me that I had started it many years ago at another camp.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-71VGXLYCxDM/V3FqBkdzH4I/AAAAAAAAB7g/lvUQWJK3cT8DBxleHh2r31Avk0jGtKjWACK4B/s1600/IMG_2501.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-71VGXLYCxDM/V3FqBkdzH4I/AAAAAAAAB7g/lvUQWJK3cT8DBxleHh2r31Avk0jGtKjWACK4B/s320/IMG_2501.jpg" width="286" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mystery Quilt started 2008</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And so I plugged away, and before long it was done... of course there was moaning and groaning... but it was done. It came home folded neatly in my bag and is waiting to be quilted... Maybe soon!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next out of the bag... another quilt I had started at camp, the first time I attended camp at Elim. I had bought the template and pattern on a recent trip to NFLD and decided it was going to get finished at this camp...</div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Newfie Quilt started September 2010<br />
<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This quilt was 75% finished so I worked at getting the other 25% done. So many people asked me for the pattern, including a German Lady who came in to visit and scared me half to death. She spoke over my shoulder and I was sure it was my mother-in-law ( who died 25 or more years ago.) But we had a great chat and immediately bonded. The 25% was completed but once I brought it home to add to the rest I think it still needs 20 more blocks... They are ready to be sewn, but might be another UFO for a future camp.<br />

I have a big order coming in tomorrow for my shop... I am very excited that I will get all that new stuff to unpack... The shop is starting to get full... Now to get some customers!<br>

<br></div>
I wanted to share my new bag and wallet! Today at the drug store, the woman behind the counter fell in love with my bag and then went crazy over my wallet... She wants to come for a class to make one... How cool is that!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Y8kU-sQ_JBw/U_KwNqh0tGI/AAAAAAAAB2o/7PxtkaKz420/s640/blogger-image-206514815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Y8kU-sQ_JBw/U_KwNqh0tGI/AAAAAAAAB2o/7PxtkaKz420/s640/blogger-image-206514815.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">And... I saw my doctor today and he loves how well I am doing on Isagenix.. Let's see how that works out!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ENDcOmZajuk/U_KwP-Q2ujI/AAAAAAAAB2w/tDr1l-ou5H4/s640/blogger-image-2101908278.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ENDcOmZajuk/U_KwP-Q2ujI/AAAAAAAAB2w/tDr1l-ou5H4/s640/blogger-image-2101908278.jpg"></a></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07098427580402589768noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449789251745116411.post-20775663317453285282014-08-16T14:42:00.001-04:002014-08-16T14:42:02.821-04:00Bags, Bags Bags.I love Saturdays.. Hubby is off doing what hubby does and I have the whole house to myself.<br />
<br />
This morning I finally finished my "Totes ma Tote" by <a href="http://www.emmalinebags.com/the-totes-ma-tote-bag/4585380153">Emmaline</a>. It is such a dull dreary day today so the pictures aren't great.<br />
<br />
This was a fairly easy pattern to make, but I enjoyed learning some new techniques. I love that it has a big roomy pocket for my iPad and a place for my phone as well.. There is a huge interior zip pocket, that I won't have any trouble filling with all kinds of goodies.<br />
<br />
Now I am off to make a few wallets. I have a stack of six, just waiting to be sewn. Boy will I be ready for Christmas this year!!<br />
<br />

<br />
I have been officially diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. A trip to the hospital in an ambulance thinking I was having a heart attack confirmed that on Saturday.<br />
<br />
But I did manage to put this up on my design wall on Sunday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eohU8Ye8OzQ/UvjoSvP-IWI/AAAAAAAABzs/VYHr9ctFHhc/s1600/ny+beauty+layout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eohU8Ye8OzQ/UvjoSvP-IWI/AAAAAAAABzs/VYHr9ctFHhc/s1600/ny+beauty+layout.jpg" height="274" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A few more tweaks and it will be ready to sew together!</div>

<br />
<br />
When I am trimming, I always trim over a scrap piece of batting. then when I am done, I pick it up and throw the scraps in the garbage. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hBLMwJSFagA/UvJZg9Te7RI/AAAAAAAAByw/Aniz134f4FE/s1600/IMG_0475.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hBLMwJSFagA/UvJZg9Te7RI/AAAAAAAAByw/Aniz134f4FE/s1600/IMG_0475.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_ny8Rpejfwg/UvJcASfupPI/AAAAAAAABzE/vzz2r7Wplk0/s1600/IMG_0478.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_ny8Rpejfwg/UvJcASfupPI/AAAAAAAABzE/vzz2r7Wplk0/s1600/IMG_0478.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Little threads on my cutting board or pressing board, I just rub my scrap piece of batting over it and it is nice and clean.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--GQV56ycgZU/UvJcASQcIeI/AAAAAAAABy8/592HWAfB-To/s1600/IMG_0479.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--GQV56ycgZU/UvJcASQcIeI/AAAAAAAABy8/592HWAfB-To/s1600/IMG_0479.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
When the batting gets disgusting, I just throw it away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FqW7-tPgqTw/UvJcAWo9R0I/AAAAAAAABzA/pK1xCAKVy_o/s1600/IMG_0477.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FqW7-tPgqTw/UvJcAWo9R0I/AAAAAAAABzA/pK1xCAKVy_o/s1600/IMG_0477.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I bet you wonder what I am making... I haven't decided on what the finished product will look like..<br />
<br />

Our lives have been in crisis since then. My son and his wife separated after 13 years of marriage and without going into any details it has been a mess.<br />
<br />
But I am glad to say that things are getting better, thankfully and I decided that I would start<br />
blogging once again.<br />
<br />
I have a plan and even if I miss some time blogging, I hope to be a regular blogger once again.<br />
<br />
After no sewing whatsoever from August until January, I sewed up a storm in January... Here's some of my projects. ( I guess I am back into it!)<br />

<br />
I had a great time with my friends yesterday. As promised here are their quilts!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1-p-NGeAfjg/UijIbB2GWiI/AAAAAAAABuE/V2IQHr75VDg/s1600/IMG_0106.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1-p-NGeAfjg/UijIbB2GWiI/AAAAAAAABuE/V2IQHr75VDg/s320/IMG_0106.jpg" width="282" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sheila, who I thought was doing the same quilt as mine, ( the one I posted yesterday) finished another quilt from the same book. The one like mine is her next commitment which ends December 31.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Carolyn's quilt was not only pieced and appliquéd, but quilted and the binding was sewn on. She sewed it down while we were visiting!<br />
<br /></td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My friend BJ's, quilt which isn't quilted because she is waiting for me to have time to do it! LOL<br />
<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Our next challenge is to be finished by December 31. Sheila is off to Amsterdam, so we are taking the extra time so we can finish something we just started!. I have my choice of about 10 different projects and haven't figured out yet which one it will be.<br />
<br />
Today I was going to sew, but decided to make perogies instead. Maybe tonight!<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07098427580402589768noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449789251745116411.post-56123265512824401862013-09-04T10:20:00.002-04:002013-09-05T14:21:22.724-04:00Whats on the "sewing' Menu for today.It's Wednesday and I try to spend the morning in my sewing room. The afternoon is usually saved for my sewing day with some friends.<br />
<br />
I am dragging myself back to normal after last months disasters so I am headed to the sewing room in a bit to cut fat quarters for my friends, and maybe sew a little... I will let you know how I make out.<br />
<br />
I challenged my little group of friends to finish a project they had started and today is the windup! If you finish you receive a fat quarter from everyone. If you don't finish you get nothing! Well... I will get nothing this month again!, because I didn't' get finished.<br />
<br />
A few years ago I bought this book...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7g6wTPNTCCA/Uic_B9fcCeI/AAAAAAAABtc/eDiRVHdZ-EM/s1600/IMG_0102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7g6wTPNTCCA/Uic_B9fcCeI/AAAAAAAABtc/eDiRVHdZ-EM/s320/IMG_0102.jpg" width="251" /></a></div>
<br />
I loved the little quilt on the front and I started making it. It was my challenge, and although I have all the flowers made for the appliqué, I still have about 100 leaves to make and attach.... boo who!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tn7PQSOxrfk/Uic_Cu5TlII/AAAAAAAABts/_VDVxXqSlX0/s1600/IMG_0103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tn7PQSOxrfk/Uic_Cu5TlII/AAAAAAAABts/_VDVxXqSlX0/s320/IMG_0103.jpg" width="279" /></a></div>
<br />
I am going to start the leaves this afternoon and hopefully I will get this finished soon...<br />
<br />
<br />
And just in case you are wondering here is a picture of the hexagon template and the template for the leaves next to a quarter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ioXPkR0Krw/UidAbvgmieI/AAAAAAAABt0/OSZ5ekbNKvs/s1600/IMG_0105.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="278" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ioXPkR0Krw/UidAbvgmieI/AAAAAAAABt0/OSZ5ekbNKvs/s320/IMG_0105.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Very very small! I will keep in touch so you can see my progress! My friend Sheila has made the same quilt only using 1" hexagons... I think it is her finish for today... I will get a picture of them side by side...<br />
<br />
On a lighter note... yesterday was the first day of school for my two grade 2 Grandchildren. I have tried to make it a tradition to take them each out for their first day of school. We usually go for super and a treat, but things are a little different now so we only got to go for the treat after supper... we had so much fun. they make me smile!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Tonight, its the two senior kindergarten kids... that should be fun!<br />

2. Bury thread knot between the template and the seam allowance to make it easier to sew another hexagon to the corner.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AJq8im2nj8k/UiJZgf4MzbI/AAAAAAAABrI/rOcA5SGFpIQ/s1600/bury+knot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AJq8im2nj8k/UiJZgf4MzbI/AAAAAAAABrI/rOcA5SGFpIQ/s320/bury+knot.jpg" width="291" /></a></div>

I decided to take the summer off from my blog routine and get myself refocused.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, this was a terrible summer for me so its a good thing I had decided not to blog because you all would have ditched me! I am not going to bore you with all that went on, but I can just say, that a very good friend of mine said,... "Wow, I have never met anyone who has had as many disasters happen to them as you". Of course ... I cried! I had pretty much been crying all summer!<br />

<br />
On a Happy note... My son got married August 1st in Tulum, Mexico. The wedding was beautiful!!!!...<br />

The weather in Mexico in August is HOT!!!! I swear the water in the ocean was warmer than most baths I have at home.<br />

The month of July was a gong show! My son and Mariona got married in Toronto, legally, 2 weeks before we left for Mexico...<br />

<br />
My sons best friend got married 1 week before we left for Mexico and that meant two new dresses... poor me!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Finding a dress for my son's wedding was difficult because it needed to be long and formal and I knew it was going to be hot!<br />

<br />
<br />
I spent zero time in my sewing room in July and when we came home around the 8th of August, our world started slowly disintegrating. Again, not going to get into it! but still no real sewing!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I did manage to get my blocks done for June, July and August's "Get your Hex On" which is a little group I joined in July. I was late sending everyone their blocks, of course! But I am all caught up now.<br />

<br />
Somethings are not meant to be... This Blog Hop was one of those things for me!<br />
<br />
First, I wasn't going to sign up for it! Then there was still some space available and I asked if I could be on the last day. That worked out, so I signed up.<br />
<br />
Then I had a brain wabble... no idea what I would do for this blog hop! Weeks went by and then...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R3qupTuU05k/UYbD3f0dy7I/AAAAAAAABEQ/WV-22eLprYk/s281/830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R3qupTuU05k/UYbD3f0dy7I/AAAAAAAABEQ/WV-22eLprYk/s281/830.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My wonderful machine stopped working...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pMXceaTXbwc/UdAiNv-eKKI/AAAAAAAABkQ/0ekzROzTqWo/s316/eyeglasses.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="100" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pMXceaTXbwc/UdAiNv-eKKI/AAAAAAAABkQ/0ekzROzTqWo/s200/eyeglasses.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then my sugars went out of wack and took my eyesight with it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h4>
But don't give up on me just yet. A commitment is a commitment... and this WAS a commitment.</h4>
<br />
Here is how it all came together...<br />
<br />
First, about a month ago I found this on one of my many blogs I follow...<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Uei1q-myhJc/UdLo4UVvfyI/AAAAAAAABmQ/zRI_ErbGGSw/s320/Screen+Shot+2013-07-02+at+10.50.34+AM.png" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="320" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://sanfranciscostitchco.com/SpringSpellbinder2.html">http://sanfranciscostitchco.com/SpringSpellbinder2.html</a><br />
The spring Spellbinder from this year</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_1740716841"></span><span id="goog_1740716842"></span><span id="goog_1740716844"></span><span id="goog_1740716845"></span><a href="http://draft.blogger.com/"></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Which led to this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_1740716806"></span><span id="goog_1740716802"></span><span id="goog_1740716798"></span><span id="goog_1740716794"></span></div>
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rhu88QZnlF4/UdLqHxXSNwI/AAAAAAAABmg/GdzirC_XQ4A/s223/Screen+Shot+2013-07-02+at+10.55.28+AM.png" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://draft.blogger.com/"><span id="goog_1740716838"></span>http://sanfranciscostitchco.com/SpringSpellbinder.html</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span id="goog_1740716839"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_1740716824"></span><span id="goog_1740716825"></span><span id="goog_1740716828"></span><span id="goog_1740716829"></span><a href="http://draft.blogger.com/"></a></div>
<br />
Which led to my inspiration for this blog hop...<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pav-pdCeb88/UdMO3GbeFBI/AAAAAAAABnY/HE6peqA_y2o/s964/StampProjectLabel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="172" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pav-pdCeb88/UdMO3GbeFBI/AAAAAAAABnY/HE6peqA_y2o/s400/StampProjectLabel.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">The label for the Paris Spellbinder</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This was my "Ah Huh' moment... I could use this to make my stamp, with a few minor changes... if my machine was working. I almost <u>cancelled</u> this blog hop! Off to plan B... I would use my 730 which embroiders perfectly.<br />
<br />
I started putting some ideas together. My son and his fiancee are getting married in less than a month and I could play around with all of these embroidery designs and come up with something that would work... so into <a href="http://www.embird.net/" target="_blank">Embird</a> <span id="goog_1740716865"></span>I went.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.embird.net/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="113" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-79XwPw8p7Q0/UdNFCdMC-QI/AAAAAAAABno/PPM2PPI2c2U/s200/Screen+Shot+2013-07-02+at+5.23.36+PM.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Well two weeks later... one week to go before my day at the hop, I had three great ideas, one for each child, all ready to embroider. Luckily the problem with the "Beast" was minor, so I picked it up from the tech and put my ideas into motion...then for some strange reason my sugar went out of wack and I could barely see clearly... I almost <u>cancelled</u> my part in this blog hop again!<br />
<br />
But I worked away, finishing up the embroideries at 11:37 pm July 2nd! So they are not quilted as I hoped they would be!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have made 3 little wedding wall hangings. Each will measure about 8 1/2 x 11.<br />
<br />
Two of the wall hangings have a theme. Each <i><u>STAMP</u></i> has the country they were married and the date. The cancellation has the month and the year as well as where they were married and the colours are the colours of the Bridal Party. The body of the hanging has a picture from their theme.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My son Scot and his wife Dee got married August 21, 2004 at a park near us. The bridesmaids wore fushia and black and carried Gerber Daisies, Dee's favorite flower. The Gerber Daisy embroidery was a freebie from Zundt designs.<br />
<br />

My daughter Susan and her husband were married on June 18, 2011 at the same park. The bridesmaids wore black and red. Susan rode to the wedding in a Cinderella carriage; the embroidery came from Embroidery Library.<br />

<br />
The third, well that wedding hasn't happened yet... Kris and Mariona will be married August 1, this year in Mexico. The bridesmaids will wear a beautiful royal blue...<br />

<br />
And the find that got all this started was the Spellbinder Paris, Eiffel Tower embroidery. <br />
<br />
In October last year, Kris secretly planned a trip to take Mariona to Paris to get engaged under the tower. A special moment for both of them.<br />

<br />
<br />
Hopefully before I leave for Mexico, I will have all three quilted and ready to gift. Or maybe they will be a wall hanging for me. Come back and check! Or follow me by email or bloglovin' so you won't miss the big reveal! Right now... I am off to bed!</div>

Who knew!!!!</h3>
<br />
That I would have so many excuses why this quilt isn't finished...<br />
<br />
The fact that I got sick during crunch time... you know... the time when you realize you only have a week to finish, but you have 6 months of work to do!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
or/and</div>
<br />
The time when you just get started and your machine goes on the blink! (Its back and it is sewing beautifully... lets hope it continues!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R3qupTuU05k/UYbD3f0dy7I/AAAAAAAABEQ/WV-22eLprYk/s281/830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R3qupTuU05k/UYbD3f0dy7I/AAAAAAAABEQ/WV-22eLprYk/s400/830.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
But... I am really pleased with where I got to.<br />
<br />
I started this quilt in 2002 and I am really only a few days away from having it completed. As of the first of June, all the blocks and sashings had been embroidered and appliqued, but not sewn together and one long border had been appliquéd.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idolr9dgXbE/UZVVEgK-8EI/AAAAAAAABM8/Z2kbPErhAZ8/s1600/DSCF4426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idolr9dgXbE/UZVVEgK-8EI/AAAAAAAABM8/Z2kbPErhAZ8/s400/DSCF4426.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
As of today, everything is sewn together...<br />
<br />
All the blocks and borders were appliquéd and embroidered and 2 of 4 corners were appliquéd and embroidered...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8sdbVUHn54/UdHxycX0jaI/AAAAAAAABls/E5riXZerszc/s1600/Corner+swag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8sdbVUHn54/UdHxycX0jaI/AAAAAAAABls/E5riXZerszc/s400/Corner+swag.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
And 1 of 4 corner butterflies has been embroidered...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LmX2Lhs_Alc/UdHxx7W988I/AAAAAAAABlk/iNjN03Ov2D4/s1600/butterflies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LmX2Lhs_Alc/UdHxx7W988I/AAAAAAAABlk/iNjN03Ov2D4/s320/butterflies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The big reveal... Tada!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XRBg-LKYhpY/UdHxyvflwLI/AAAAAAAABlw/FWzwURdGUb4/s1600/July+1+deadline+baskets+quilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XRBg-LKYhpY/UdHxyvflwLI/AAAAAAAABlw/FWzwURdGUb4/s320/July+1+deadline+baskets+quilt.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So much more work than I thought to finish up this quilt. But with only a small portion of the work left to do, 3 or 4 more baseball games and I will have it finished! Go Jays Go! Thanks for the challenge!<br />
<br />

Sticky Stuff<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have a drawer, marked sticky stuff, that I TRY to keep all my sticky stuff in... And its full.<br />
<br />
but not everything is my favourite...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tDm57tkmZCY/UdAp3124N5I/AAAAAAAABko/AJ8PctWwAg4/s1600/sticky+stuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tDm57tkmZCY/UdAp3124N5I/AAAAAAAABko/AJ8PctWwAg4/s400/sticky+stuff.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
But... Here are a few of my favourites...<br />
<br />
First let me talk about ...<br />
<br />
<h3>
<b><i><u>Elmers' Glue</u></i></b></h3>
<br />
I LOVE IT!<br />
I am the queen of Elmers' Glue. I use it for everything.<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Sticking zippers in place before I sew them. </li>
<li>Applique</li>
<li>Attaching Applique</li>
<li>In piecing when I need something exactly where I want it to get nice points</li>
<li>Attaching my bindings,</li>
<li>And much much more.. </li>
</ol>
<div>
I like the stick sometimes, but I mostly use the small pen or the regular bottle. I have tips for them, but mostly, I just adjust the caps to work the way I want them to. Quick tip. Press lightly with your iron to dry it faster. I have never had a problem with it not washing out or leaving any discolouration. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XVFGkJxWHa8/UdA1bX4svqI/AAAAAAAABlA/Ir4WvL6_0ms/s1600/2013-06-30+09.23.22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XVFGkJxWHa8/UdA1bX4svqI/AAAAAAAABlA/Ir4WvL6_0ms/s320/2013-06-30+09.23.22.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Other Glues</u></h3>
<div>
I only ever use Roxanne's Glue Baste It!. When I am doing a ton of appliqué, I like it because it drys quickly and I can turn edges in my chair while I watch TV. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lD-puj4qEgA/UdA1aVbW9JI/AAAAAAAABk4/7Nbm7MB9sTQ/s1600/2013-06-30+09.26.46.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lD-puj4qEgA/UdA1aVbW9JI/AAAAAAAABk4/7Nbm7MB9sTQ/s320/2013-06-30+09.26.46.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Sticky Labels</u></h3>
<div>
I use a lot of sticky labels. I need them to organize my stuff in boxes, drawers and shelves. I use the round ones on cut fabric, to remind me what size they are and I use the hole protectors to hold the ends of my threads on my slippery spools of embroidery thread!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qB2VYnVazRQ/UdA1dL6xCII/AAAAAAAABlQ/-zc_747QqpA/s1600/2013-06-30+09.34.35.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qB2VYnVazRQ/UdA1dL6xCII/AAAAAAAABlQ/-zc_747QqpA/s320/2013-06-30+09.34.35.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Sprays</u></h3>
<div>
I am not a spray lover, but I do use 505 Basting Spray occasionally when I am quilting some little piece on my domestic machine. But what I really love are these spray handles that I found on someones blog a few months back... they are amazing to use, and easy to buy. Just look in the paint department of any hardware store!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-224G5JPl-lU/UdA1bBJH8uI/AAAAAAAABlE/M4jrjyfxKq4/s1600/2013-06-30+09.31.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-224G5JPl-lU/UdA1bBJH8uI/AAAAAAAABlE/M4jrjyfxKq4/s320/2013-06-30+09.31.54.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Fusible Web</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I love Misty Fuse. It is easy to use and I can use as little or as much as I want. And it has a very soft hand, your appliqués don't harden or get stiff. It is my favourite. I buy it by the meter and I don't think it is as expensive as other products.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Agent 007 works well for small areas you just need to permanently fuse! I don't use it much because it makes a huge mess but I use a little QTip to help me get it in place.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZmrpK1XVxkc/UdA1dqVaz5I/AAAAAAAABlY/4RM8K6-niXA/s1600/2013-06-30+09.35.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZmrpK1XVxkc/UdA1dqVaz5I/AAAAAAAABlY/4RM8K6-niXA/s320/2013-06-30+09.35.49.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Household Glues and Tapes</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have lots of examples of household glues, but I have found that I like the E6000 the best for quick permanent gluing. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tape is tape, but I do look for the ones with the really sharp cutting edges. Nothing irritates me more than having tape twisting off the roller, as I am one handedly, trying to get a piece on a present I am wrapping or a pattern piece I am joining... Which reminds me... I really need to buy a tape dispenser! That will solve that problem!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />

<br />
Well... I am type two diabetic and for some reason, I had a huge problem with my sugars. One of the first things that I noticed was that my eye site was totally screwed up and sitting on the computer was definitely impossible. (Still isn't back to normal, but it is better.) Sewing was also next to impossible so I took a little holiday...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMXceaTXbwc/UdAiNv-eKKI/AAAAAAAABkM/U32X-Hzd7OU/s316/eyeglasses.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMXceaTXbwc/UdAiNv-eKKI/AAAAAAAABkM/U32X-Hzd7OU/s316/eyeglasses.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And now I am back! Today is going to be short and sweet though... Just the Friday Finds... which also will be short and sweet, since I didn't spend much time on the computer this last week.<br />
<br />
I have changed the format for the Friday finds. Each week you will get a link to a PDF which you can save on your computer if you like. You will also see a link at the top of my blog for Friday finds, that will take you to my website where you can see all the Friday Finds from now on. Eventually I hope to have a data Base so things will be easy to find.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://notionnanny.com/uploads/June_28th_friday_finds.pdf" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-twqAV8TI1gY/UdAidc3SWEI/AAAAAAAABkU/BL33iEuHfDQ/s200/11949850601793037291magnifing_glass_gino_riv_01.svg.med.png" width="198" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://notionnanny.com/uploads/June_28th_friday_finds.pdf" target="_blank">Here's Friday Finds for the week of June 28th.</a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next week is going to be a very busy week....<br />
<br />
First... on Monday, I have to link up to a year of finishes... remember this..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idolr9dgXbE/UZVVEgK-8EI/AAAAAAAABM8/Z2kbPErhAZ8/s1600/DSCF4426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-idolr9dgXbE/UZVVEgK-8EI/AAAAAAAABM8/Z2kbPErhAZ8/s400/DSCF4426.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well... it looks a lot better today, but you will have to wait till Monday to find out whether or not it is finished yet!<br />
<br />
And on Monday, I plan to have another instalment of "My fa<br />
vorite tools" ready for you. Such slow going when you can't barely see. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day again!<br />
<br />
<br />
On Wednesday, July 3rd, I have my day on the "Put your stamp on it" blog hop....My project is not quite done yet. But it will be...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CO0BS22YyJs/UcIoPJ53FeI/AAAAAAAABj4/S25X6xkfffs/s400/Stamponit1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CO0BS22YyJs/UcIoPJ53FeI/AAAAAAAABj4/S25X6xkfffs/s320/Stamponit1.jpg" width="304" /></a></div>
So I guess I will see you all On Monday!<br />
<br />
<br />

Yesterday, I spent the whole day working on my project for the "Put A Stamp On It", blog hop which will start in a few weeks. I can't show you it yet, but I can tell you, that my mind is an incredible thing... It thinks something will be easy, and won't take hardly any time, but the reality is... I really didn't get close to my imagination today.<br />

Making a stamp is very difficult. You can't just cut some squares, paper piece, or appliqué it, unless you are some amazing, genius, quilter/sewer, which I am not! I can't wait to see what the other bloggers are doing!<br />
<br />
Hopefully, I will get it done on Saturday... Right after my little mini retreat at my friend Laila's cottage...( I can barely wait).<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I think I will take this quilt to Laila's. <br />
It would be really good to get it finished!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
But first, I have a mini shop hop with my friends tomorrow. I am looking for a batik jelly roll or two for #18 on my Friday finds post, last week! (I love that quilt!)<br />
